Bloom & WildLondon23d ago
We're open to hearing from fully/partially remote or London-based candidates, as we work from everywhere within GMT +2 hours’.
Are you looking for the opportunity to come in and make your mark, helping us to improve quality? Can you apply your initiative, expertise and experience to help improve testing and quality across our teams? We're looking for a tester to join our test team, with a mission to accelerate growth outside our UK core business.
We’re Bloom & Wild, the UK’s most loved online florist. We’re using technology to reimagine the experience of buying and receiving flowers, connecting people more thoughtfully to make sending flowers a joy to send and a delight to receive. In doing so we're aiming to become Europe’s most loved flower brand. We’ve raised over £20million in venture capital funding and were recently named as the second-fastest growing tech company in the UK by Deloitte. One of the Tech Nation “Future Fifty” alumni and one of the Sunday Times Top 100 Small Companies to Work For 2020, we’re now the fastest growing online flower company in Europe.
Our business has, so far, been in the fortunate position to be able to continue trading and growing during this time of economic uncertainty, with the Government actively encouraging online retail, and customer demand for flowers for their loved ones is strong due to social distancing measures in place.
You’ll work closely with our Business Development team on solutions that build our international markets, develop new distribution channels and support the development of new products and services. The Growth squad is one of four squads in the technology team. Each squad is a small, close-knit team of developers, a product manager, tester and engineering manager/scrum master.
The opportunity awaits you to work on our industry leading website and iOS / Android apps, powered by a technology stack which includes Angular and Ruby on Rails. Together these provide a best-in-class shopping experience for our customers.
You can read more about our technology over on our tech blog - Code & Wild.
You'll be testing our website and backend systems with a focus on exploratory testing with a risk based approach.
You’re someone who enjoys working together with developers to help them become better testers. You are eager to learn, ask questions to uncover risks and enjoy testing to enhance the quality of the end customers experience.
You have at least 2 years experience in exploratory testing.
You are a creative individual and enjoy coming up with new ideas to improve processes, overcome challenges and ideas for future endeavours. You’ll be a champion of quality and understand how it can be improved at every stage of software development. We expect that you will take learning seriously, as well as sharing your knowledge and helping the whole company to understand what good quality is.
You enjoy leading the testing effort within your squad, including test management, execution and reporting, across multiple concurrent projects. You are keen to spread your knowledge on testing and quality.
You ideally have an interest in automation (and perhaps even some experience in this area), have worked on e-commerce sites before and have some app testing experience.
Perhaps you have a love of flowers too…
A day in the life
What does a day in the life of a tester at Bloom and Wild look like?
Each day starts with a good beverage and a stand up during which the squad discuss the work in progress, any blockers and priorities for everyone for the day ahead using our feature and bug tracking software.
There might be planning/refinement/retrospective for the squad which occur every other week (based on 2 week iterations).
There will be the opportunity to work with developers to debug any issues, keep track of testing and share updates on progress.
Each day, the frontend and backend release updates, so supporting testing for this will be key.
