MyTutor is the UKâs leading online platform for one-to-one learning, and we're on a mission to improve the educational outcomes of thousands of young people. Weâre building a future where access to high quality learning is stress-free for those who can afford it, and funded for those who can't.One-to-one tuition is one of the most powerful ways to improve pupilsâ grades, confidence and life chances. Yet it remains out of reach for many. Our handpicked community of tutors work online with students from all walks of life, raising results on average by one whole grade. Since the Covid-19 and all the disruption to education, we've worked with the government to provide safe and reliable tuition to more students than ever. We're proud to have worked with over 1,000 schools across the UK, and our tutors have given over a million lessons.Since the pandemic, we've scaled up and kept a working environment that encourages collaboration and support. We always prioritise our team's development and wellbeing, remotely right now, and in an office again in the future. You can find your zen in team Yoga on Mondays, sweat it out at our Product Manager Jess's Bootcamp on Fridays (not for the faint-hearted) or get creative at Drink & Draw from our Content Manager Mariota. We have regular company socials and there are chances every week to sit down with someone for a cuppa and a chat. When it's legal, we're excited to get back to in-person socials too (landscape drawing in the park, anyone?).

Hello! Thank you for your interest in working with us at The Honeycomb Works.Since 2016 weâve been helping organisations build more inclusive and innovative cultures using science, data and technology. Our mission is for everyone to feel like they belong and are free to invent at work.We work habit by habit, person by person, at scale. And we need help.We welcome candidates from underrepresented backgrounds. We donât mind gaps in CVs (none of our business), portfolio careers (broad perspectives and experiences are very welcome), and donât really mind if or where you went to university (our CEO is American so actually canât tell the difference). The only thing we donât tolerate is intolerance. Here, there is no question that Black Lives Matter or that trans rights are human rights. If you find either of these statements of fact controversial, we are not the right place for you. But, if you want to create a world of work where equality is the norm, micro-aggressions are a (quickly corrected) anomaly and the brilliance of all the people who have been ignored is unleashed to solve the worldâs biggest problems, please continue reading. All roles are flexible in terms of time and location and will have their scope agreed in collaboration with the successful candidate to best match their skills and goals for development. The RoleWe have an app. It is a good app. It is also a bootstrapped, very lean app that has been 100% focused on the most critical use cases. As we grow and add users we need a User Experience designer and researcher to help us maximise impact and engagement. The UX lead will be responsible for:Conducting user research that develops a deep understanding of why we behave the way we do at work and how we can support people to be a better version of themselves - someone who challenges bias and acts as an ally to people who need oneUsing the insight and empathy from the user research to design solutions that delight and deliver real value, helping to break down systemic inequality by shifting the behaviours of people with power and privilegeUnderstanding the importance of the detail in the end to end user journey, ensuring the experience doesn't have snags that make people stumble on their pathCommunicating and collaborating with developers and stakeholders working with agile methodologies to deliver on your vision; providing the assets and guidance necessary to support their workEnsuring your vision has been delivered by thoroughly testing the implementationProtecting the most vulnerable by anticipating and addressing potential negative unintended consequences for people in underrepresented groups and anticipating the behavioursWe are looking for someone who:Understands agile beyond the terms and the process: we are not doctrinaire but we believe strongly in the principles. We are looking for someone who is flexible in their application but thinks deeply about the why, the people impacted and the result. Will prioritise the most vulnerable: our users are very important but they may not be the most important - it is the people with power in organisations whose behaviour we want to shift to make work more fair, so we need to be sure that we balance the needs of our target users with the urgency of effecting real change. Can ruthlessly prioritise: there is so much we want to do and such a big mountain to climb, so we need to prioritise what will have the greatest impact for users and make some difficult decisions on what to ignore.Takes a scientific approach: the creation of hypotheses, the questioning of our assumptions and designing experiments that challenge our biases are core to who we are. We generate ideas based on the best evidence we have and question them mercilessly - you must be willing to âkill your darlingsâ and prioritise learning quickly.Currently this is a part time, contract role, but we are hoping to be able to expand the team permanently later in the year. The role reports to the founder and CEO.Salary and working schedule both open to discussion, depending on experience and availability. For now we anticipate the role being 2-3 days a week for 4-6 weeks.
Support DeveloperLocation: Kings Cross, London (Work from home or office due to COVID-19)Salary: ÂŁ36,520 (a market supplement has been applied to this role)Grade: 6Contract: Fixed Term Contract for 1 Year until end of June 2022How to applyPlease upload a CV a cover letter and a link to a project or a piece from your portfolio of work that you feel demonstrates your ability to carry out this role and showcases your skills and experience by 9th July 2021 at 5pm.About the roleThe Open Data Institute is looking to appoint a Support Developer for the OpenActive initiative in partnership with Sport England. The goal of OpenActive is to tackle inactivity in England by making it as easy to book a badminton court online as it is to book a hotel room. This exciting programme brings together a growing community of activity providers, technology suppliers and data users. By setting common data standards, and helping organisations to openly publish their timetables and opportunities as open data, we are making it easier for people to get physically active. Working closely with, and reporting to, the OpenActive Tech Lead, the Open Source Support Developer will help partner organisations implement OpenActive technical standards to exacting specifications. These organisations may use systems written in PHP, Javascript, C#, or other languages. They may have an in-house development team, or use an agency, whether remote or local. They may be hoping only to publish data using our Opportunity model â or to add booking functionality using our Open Booking API. The important point is that the Support Developer will be there to help them understand our specifications and, where necessary, roll up his or her sleeves to help them with their code. Making this task easier is OpenActiveâs Developer Site, along with our extensive collection (100+ repositories) of open source libraries and other code for integration. Maintaining these resources â including gathering feedback from developers about how they might be improved and, where possible, implementing these updates â is also an important responsibility of the role. As all our code is open source, and hosted on public repositories, the post-holder will also need to be comfortable working in the open and managing e.g. public repository pull requests and GitHub Issues. Because we work with so many (and such different) organisations to implement our standards, flexibility and curiosity are more important for the role than deep immersion in a single language or development approach: the successful Support Developer will need to be able to quickly assess and comprehend partner organisationsâ code, understand the challenges they are facing, and help them bridge the gap between their current codebase and correct implementation of OpenActive standards. Very often an ability to empathise, communicate, and grasp broad technical architecture will be more relevant than mastery of syntactic details (though the successful candidate will not be intimidated by these, either). Although the role is predominantly technical, it would also suit a candidate interested in developing their skills in developer relations. In addition, youâll be working alongside the ODIâs small but dedicated and experienced tech team â and thus be well-placed to develop and explore your interests in the diverse areas we work in, from anonymisation and privacy, to standardisation and synthetic data.ResponsibilitiesHands-on coding support (typically PHP, Javascript, Ruby, or C#) for developers implementing OpenActive standards and/or integrating OpenActive tooling with their native stacksMaintenance and development of existing open source OpenActive tooling Documentation of new and existing tooling and standards for technical audiencesImprovement of the OpenActive developer experience by revitalising and expanding our developer website. âhttps://developer.openactive.co.ukâCollection technical feedback from OpenActive implementers to improve our tooling, documentation, and standards. As a member of the ODI team, your responsibilities include:Embracing and reflecting ODI's values and culture in the way you workTaking time for professionally required CPD, coaching and mentoring, both individually and as a teamEngaging in and contributing to the ODIâs work on Diversity, Equity and InclusionAbout You 2+ years experience of software development, ideally but not necessarily in the area of booking platformsExperience working with and developing SDKs and REST APIs.Experience of at least two of the following languages: PHP, Ruby, Javascript, C#, and PythonExperience with Git-based tools and versioning softwareExperience working with a variety of third party APIs and SDKsFluent written and spoken EnglishDesirableExperience in the areas of technical writing and/or developer relationsExperience managing or contributing to open source projects.Experience working for a development agency with quick turnaround timesA familiarity and understanding of open data and licensingExperience working remotely when necessary. If you feel like you are suited to this role but donât have all of the skills listed above, we encourage you to still apply. Please do so by outlining why you feel you are suited to the role and the unique skills that you would bring to it.
