We're helping electronics producers be better stewards of their products and the planet. Only ≈15% of electronics end up being recycled and an even higher percentage are left unused. These symbols of our progression as a society are responsible for our rapid environmental decay. We're here to change that.We build software for electronics companies who are operating producer owned models: that's when a company owns, looks after and ultimately recycles it's products. Charging it's customers to access them. Like an e-scooter sharing platform or a robotics as-a-service business. Which are are not only climate compatible but also brilliant user centric business models. Our platform solves for two problems that prevent companies from making the switch to this model. Digitising the new operations they will need, now they are the custodians of their products lifecycle. And accessing capital to help smooth out the longer payback periods these models have. We're building a set of tools and integrations that lets producers manage the lifecycles of their products. We quantify the economic and environmental impact of their products lifecycle. Using this data to give producers instant access to their products future earnings, to help them with working and growth capital. This same data creates a detailed green financial product for our lenders.

Finally, fair home insurance. At Urban Jungle we craft insurance for the demands of a new generation. In 2016, we looked around at the insurance industry and saw that it was shockingly outdated. No embrace of technology. And no empathy for real world situations - like how more people are renting for longer, and with more flatmates. So, we decided we should fix it - starting with both of those ingredients: more technology and a lot more respect. Our cover is simple, clear and fair. We're working towards a world where everybody feels confident about their financial future. To do this, we're building an amazing team of people who aren't afraid to challenge the status quo. Whether that's a line of code, a new product launch or a national campaign, we're looking for people to join us on our mission.

THE ODI theodi.org

Support DeveloperLocation: Kings Cross, London (Work from home or office due to COVID-19)Salary: £36,520 (a market supplement has been applied to this role)Grade: 6Contract: Fixed Term Contract for 1 Year until end of June 2022How to applyPlease upload a CV a cover letter and a link to a project or a piece from your portfolio of work that you feel demonstrates your ability to carry out this role and showcases your skills and experience by 9th July 2021 at 5pm.About the roleThe Open Data Institute is looking to appoint a Support Developer for the OpenActive initiative in partnership with Sport England. The goal of OpenActive is to tackle inactivity in England by making it as easy to book a badminton court online as it is to book a hotel room. This exciting programme brings together a growing community of activity providers, technology suppliers and data users. By setting common data standards, and helping organisations to openly publish their timetables and opportunities as open data, we are making it easier for people to get physically active. Working closely with, and reporting to, the OpenActive Tech Lead, the Open Source Support Developer will help partner organisations implement OpenActive technical standards to exacting specifications. These organisations may use systems written in PHP, Javascript, C#, or other languages. They may have an in-house development team, or use an agency, whether remote or local. They may be hoping only to publish data using our Opportunity model – or to add booking functionality using our Open Booking API. The important point is that the Support Developer will be there to help them understand our specifications and, where necessary, roll up his or her sleeves to help them with their code. Making this task easier is OpenActive’s Developer Site, along with our extensive collection (100+ repositories) of open source libraries and other code for integration. Maintaining these resources – including gathering feedback from developers about how they might be improved and, where possible, implementing these updates – is also an important responsibility of the role. As all our code is open source, and hosted on public repositories, the post-holder will also need to be comfortable working in the open and managing e.g. public repository pull requests and GitHub Issues. Because we work with so many (and such different) organisations to implement our standards, flexibility and curiosity are more important for the role than deep immersion in a single language or development approach: the successful Support Developer will need to be able to quickly assess and comprehend partner organisations’ code, understand the challenges they are facing, and help them bridge the gap between their current codebase and correct implementation of OpenActive standards. Very often an ability to empathise, communicate, and grasp broad technical architecture will be more relevant than mastery of syntactic details (though the successful candidate will not be intimidated by these, either). Although the role is predominantly technical, it would also suit a candidate interested in developing their skills in developer relations. In addition, you’ll be working alongside the ODI’s small but dedicated and experienced tech team – and thus be well-placed to develop and explore your interests in the diverse areas we work in, from anonymisation and privacy, to standardisation and synthetic data.ResponsibilitiesHands-on coding support (typically PHP, Javascript, Ruby, or C#) for developers implementing OpenActive standards and/or integrating OpenActive tooling with their native stacksMaintenance and development of existing open source OpenActive tooling Documentation of new and existing tooling and standards for technical audiencesImprovement of the OpenActive developer experience by revitalising and expanding our developer website. “https://developer.openactive.co.uk”Collection technical feedback from OpenActive implementers to improve our tooling, documentation, and standards. As a member of the ODI team, your responsibilities include:Embracing and reflecting ODI's values and culture in the way you workTaking time for professionally required CPD, coaching and mentoring, both individually and as a teamEngaging in and contributing to the ODI’s work on Diversity, Equity and InclusionAbout You 2+ years experience of software development, ideally but not necessarily in the area of booking platformsExperience working with and developing SDKs and REST APIs.Experience of at least two of the following languages: PHP, Ruby, Javascript, C#, and PythonExperience with Git-based tools and versioning softwareExperience working with a variety of third party APIs and SDKsFluent written and spoken EnglishDesirableExperience in the areas of technical writing and/or developer relationsExperience managing or contributing to open source projects.Experience working for a development agency with quick turnaround timesA familiarity and understanding of open data and licensingExperience working remotely when necessary. If you feel like you are suited to this role but don’t have all of the skills listed above, we encourage you to still apply. Please do so by outlining why you feel you are suited to the role and the unique skills that you would bring to it. Benefits5% employer contributory pension30 days annual holiday plus bank holidaysLife assurance coverLong term disability coverCritical illness cover£750 annual professional development budgetEnhanced sick payEnhanced maternity paySeason ticket loanCycle to work schemeEye care vouchersCoaching and mentoringFlexible workingTeam Building and Social EventsApplying to work with usThe ODI welcomes and encourages job applications from a diverse range of backgrounds to promote an inclusive culture and a diverse working environment. If you’ve got any queries, please email jobs@theodi.orgPlease read: Your privacy: ODI recruitment process.
